This is one of the happiest paintings I have seen in a long time. You should make it into Birthday Cards. It is so adorable it just plain makes you feel great. Thanks for making my day. Pat Meyer Fine Art

I think that what makes this painting so amusingly charming is the fact that the hog definitely looks unappealingly like a real hog, except for his wide smile. He isn't some cute greeting card or child's piggy, he looks real. Contrasting with this, however, is his very wide, human type smile and the fact that he is sitting at a table, celebrating his birthday.

The artist has very cleverly combined a realistic hog with the realistic trappings of a birthday party, holding them together with the hog's unrealistic broad smile and the fact that he is sitting at a table. This is a novel approach to pig paintings and the artist must be congratulated for the way that she has held together the elements of her painting with a minimum of "glue"!
